We are committed to offering a variety of choices and programs that help our customers manage their own energy use. For example, we have installed nearly 1.6 million digital meters – one for virtually every customer in Virginia, helping customers use energy more efficiently with smart grid technology, which helps us identify and respond to power outages in real time.

Renewable Energy
As technology has advanced, the wind has been used for grinding grain, pumping water and providing electricity to farms beyond the reach of power lines.
Through year-end 2024, approximately 12% of EEG Holdings owned and contracted renewable generation capacity came from hydroelectric projects.
Electricity generated from the Solar Stek projects displaces approximately 661,000 tons of CO2 per year – which is equivalent to greenhouse gas emissions from nearly 219,000 gasoline-powered cars driven for one year.

Geothermal Energy Efficiency
With our geothermal production wells that tap into super-heated water reservoirs thousands of feet beneath the earth’s surface to release tremendous pressure, which rushes to the surface. Once above ground, the steam is separated and used to drive turbines that generate electricity. Geothermal energy is so efficient, the only real source of energy loss comes from turbine friction.
